No, it wasn’t a real argument. And also no real reason for termination.
But it was a real learning success for everyone involved.
I’m being booked more and more often as a business actor.
For example, recently by an insurance company.
My task: to embody a demanding, angry customer as credibly as possible, so that the customer advisors don’t just practice in the training, but experience what can happen to them in reality.
Business acting makes exactly that possible. It brings a dimension to training that is hardly achievable with classic role plays.
Suddenly, theory becomes real interaction. Conversation simulation becomes experienced communication. And feedback becomes a deep learning experience.
In such settings, I consciously slip into roles that are challenging. An angry customer. A skeptical superior. A suspicious business partner. I confront, provoke, mirror, observe. And then we reflect together on what happened, what worked, what didn’t, and why.
The reactions of the participants are impressive every time.
Because they realize: Now it’s no longer what they know that counts, but how they work.
It becomes visible where uncertainty arises, how body language unconsciously controls, how language de-escalates or escalates, and where self-image and external perception diverge.
And that’s exactly what it’s all about.
Business acting is not theatre. It is also not a spectacle for entertainment.
It is a highly effective training tool for anyone who wants to make a real impact in sales, leadership, customer service or service.
I combine my roles with my experience as a coach, trainer and former manager. Not to shine, but to create spaces in which behavior is allowed to show itself honestly. Without consequences. But with the chance to develop further.
Because if you can confidently deal with a difficult customer in training, you will appear more relaxed, clearer and more confident outside in real life.
